Josh Downs has officially requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts, raising major questions about the future of the team's receiving corps. With Alec Pierce as the only established option and Keenan Allen set to leave after this season, will the Colts be able to retool their offense through the NFL Draft or free agency after losing Downs?
Analyzing the likely trade compensation, the conversation contrasts Downs’ expected value—possibly a fourth-round pick—with blockbuster deals like the Chicago Bears acquiring Jeffrey Simmons from the Tennessee Titans for two first-rounders and a fourth. The discussion explores how contract status, player age, and team desperation shift trade returns, using comparisons to DeForest Buckner, Micah Parsons, and Myles Garrett. Will the Colts be able to stack enough draft capital to make a big move, or will they risk letting key talent walk for less than expected?
